We at CubaDomainsForSale.com have well defined views about Domain
names and their value. Below, we provide answers, in Q & A format, to some commonly
asked questions on the subject of Domain names and Domain name value.
CubaDomainsForSale.com
strongly advises every client to check
Trademarks
before registration or purchase of a Domain name.
What is a Domain
name?
A Domain name is the human-friendly and visible part of an internet address, e.g., "http://www.CubaDomainsForSale.com". This is a Uniform
Resource Locator (URL), a string of information that lets people locate specific sites on
the internet. A URL is unique, meaning that no two are exactly alike. It is a description
of a computer's location on the internet. The "http://"
part in the beginning of the address tells your web browser you are addressing a web site
using the "HyperText Transport Protocol". "www"
stands for World Wide Web. "CubaDomainsForSale.com" is the true Domain name;
".com" is called the top level Domain. The most
important part of a Domain name is the second level name. The words
"CubaDomainsForSale" is the second level Domain. A chosen Domain name also
allows you to receive e-mail at a personalized e-mail address. For example:
help@CubaDomainsForSale.com, or anyword@CubaDomainsForSale.com.

How many Domain Names are
there?
This number varies, literally, minute to minute during
the global 24 hour internet day. There are really three numbers that are important to
watch every day and compare day to day. The number of active Domain names, the number of
deleted Domain names and the daily number of transfers. The best source of this
information is HERE.
Why are Domain names
needed?
Each web site on the World Wide Web needs an 'address' so that it can easily be found on
the internet. Computers recognize web sites by their IP number (Internet Protocol). A
number like 123.456.789.123. Humans find it easier to remember a name rather than that
long string of numbers. To make life easier, each Domain name is tied permanently to one
number, and every site has its own unique number. A Domain name is unique and can be
registered to only one registrant at a time.

What Domain names
should I choose?
The Domain names that you choose to reserve, should, under ideal circumstances, have the
same name as your business or project for that particular web site, if at all possible. If
your business is entirely online, you should try to pick a name that is representative of
your company's product or service. We use as an example, CubaDomainsForSale.com, a made-up
name that describes the primary function of the web sites that it serves. Ideally, the
name would also be easy to remember and to spell. This name also contains all of the words
that are used to search for the subject of Cuba Domains for sale. In an ideal world,
however, the name would be shorter.

How do I register my
own Domain name?
First, you need to find out whether the name of your choice is still available. This is by
far the least expensive and most simple. Simply enter your name choice into the Domain
WhoIs page, HERE. Your entry needs to include the suffix ending e.g., yourDomain.com and
click the submit button. If that Domain name is still available on the primary market, use
our online Domain Registration Page, HERE. This will submit
and reserve, in your name, that available Domain immediately, at a great price.
What is the cost of a
Domain name?
The registration cost of a Domain name at CubaDomainsForSale.com is $15.00 for a .com, or
.org, or .net Domain. This fee covers the first full year and any updates the database
record for that Domain name for a period of one year. After this one year, on the
anniversary of the initial registration, the Registrant will be notified that another fee
is due for each additional year of reservation of the name [until the government decides
to soak more out of the registrant]. Normally, the billing contact will be sent an
reminder invoice by e-mail 45 days and another notification 30 days before this fee is
due. This practice is subject to change without notice.

Once registered, is
the Domain name mine forever?
Yes it is, but you must pay an annual renewal fee to the Registrar. As long as the name is
paid current, the listed Registrant "owns" and has the continuing right to
transfer that Domain name to any other entity, which means the names can be bought and
sold on the open (secondary) market. Top Level Domain names (TLD), that is, those ending
with .com, etc., associated with Cuba are very valuable. We believe that these names will
hold an ever increasing value, forcing others seeking Domain names, later in time, to
accept compromise alternative top level Domain names.

What happens if a
Domain name is allowed to expire?
Domain names are registered (reserved) in increments of one year. The most often chosen
time of reservation is two years, however, very often important Domain names are reserved
for up to ten years. A Domain names actually expires on the anniversary of its
registration. At that time, someone would need to pay for at least one, or in some cases
two, additional year(s) of Domain name registration. There is a varying grace period,
usually 30 days, to allow for bookkeeping and mailing situations, etc. It is managed, in
many ways, similarly to the registration for your car; it needs to be watched closely and
renewed every year.
Can I register
anything as a Domain name?
In theory, almost any contiguous series of common western letters and numbers can be
registered. There are some restrictions, for example:
 |
you can not use a name that is already
registered, without license to do so. |
 |
the Domain name to be registered should
not be made up of words that would likely cause offense, or are abusive. |
 |
Domain names must not be longer than 67
characters including the characters used to identify the Top Level Domain designation
(.com, .net, .org, .cu, etc.) |
 |
Domain names are not case sensitive.
Letters, numbers and hyphens "-" (if they do not occur at the start or at the
end of the name) are acceptable. |
Even though longer Domain names (up to 67 characters) are acceptable
for registration, the shorter the Domain name, the more memorable the Domain name and
therefore the greater the value. Also, there is less chance of a misspelling!

Must I reside in the
U. S. to register a .com Domain name?
No. You must have a valid operating e-mail address. At CubaDomainsForSale.com we insist on
payment in United States Dollars. You must have a "host" for your new name, that
is, upon registration, you will need two DNS address entries to complete your registration
form. This internet host will "park" your new address for future use.
How about Domain
names ending with .com, or .org, or .cu, or .uk?
These suffixes are issued by various registering authorities worldwide. Names that are
registered with ICANN are the most
policed and stable. Most common are:
 |
.com - usually for commercial
organizations. |
 |
.net - usually for network
organizations. |
 |
.org - meant for non-profit
organizations. |
 |
.edu - exclusively reserved for four year
earned degree educational institutions. |
 |
.cu - is for Domains hosted within the
country Cuba (see below.) |
There are top level Domains reserved for every single country around
the world. These are referred to as "Top Level Domain Country Codes" (ccTLD.)
These suffixes augment the .com top level Domain name extension, e.g., .uk, .ca, .tv, .cu,
etc. We have a complete and up-to-date listing of these ccTLDs HERE.
Despite the availability of alternative top level names, the
majority of companies around the world buy names with .com extensions, because all
high-traffic sites, and those web sites easiest to remember, all use a dot com Domain name
extension. Another great point is that the Netscape and Microsoft browsers automatically
enter and point to only the .com addresses (control + enter keystroke).

If the Domain name
that I want is already registered, can I have it?
The Domain name that you need can be found! We at CubaDomainsForSale.com specialize in
private negotiation and placement, either sale, lease or rental, of existing Cuba and
Cuban related Domain names. We also maintain a large public inventory of high quality Cuba Domain names that we purchase
for and sell from.
When a Domain name
is sold, what is the completion time involved?
Changes in Domain Registrant (owner) normally take three to five business days, with
transactions at CubaDomainsForSale.com. However, there are, from time to time, rarely,
exceptions to this rule of thumb.
FIRST.
Some Domain name registrars are very slow in processing changes in Registrant information.
In these cases all involved are at the mercy of that registrar. In the worst case, there
is no time lapse over 30 days. We maintain a quality and professional relationship with
every ICANN certified registrar. We know who the difficult registrars are, and we will
notify all parties involved in the transaction, should one of these "slow"
registrars be involved.
SECOND. For
safety reasons, in the unlikely event that a change of registrant request is submitted for
a Domain name that has been registered for less than 60 days, the processing will be
delayed until the Domain registration is 60 days old.

What is the value of
a Domain name?
Today dot com (.com) names have considerable resale value since they are tangible business
investments that can identify a company on the internet forever. Most companies likely
will, over time, conduct a substantial part of their business over the internet. Further,
another important consideration is to have relevant "key words" as part of your
Domain name. This will enable customers to find your site easily through utilization of
web based search engines such as Google.com.
The value and sale price of a Domain name depends on how 'good' that
Domain name is! A successful internet strategy begins with the ownership of a 'good'
Domain name, that is, a Domain name, that is short, easy to remember and descriptive of
the content of the web site and the desired message.
What makes these 'good' Domain names more successful than others is
that they are naturally memorable and descriptive, wherever seen or heard. Persons exposed
to a 'good' Domain name will more likely remember it when they need it.
Another major component of definable value is the dot com (.com)
suffix. It is by far the most useful and popular. EVERY single one of the world's leading
companies has a .com Domain name. Further, most every one of those companies has, for
various valid reasons, at least several other Domain names.
Tens of thousands of Domain names are registered every week.
Already, except for specialized and multiple-word Domain names, the 'good' Domains are
mostly gone. If you spot a Domain name that might be of valuable use to you, now is the
time to act to reserve that spot on the internet. There are few feelings as hollow as
having finally found the Domain name that you like, and could have, become unavailable.

What is the cost of
a Domain name in the 'secondary' market?
Millions of dollars have been paid for Domain names. Domain names listed and available on
CubaDomainsForSale.com presently sell at United States dollar prices beginning at $1,150.00. All prices and conditions are subject to change without notice. Also, we require
that all transactions be negotiated and be paid in United States of America dollars and
should be payable in advance at the time of transaction by prepayment account. All
business at CubaDomainsForSale.com follows these rules.

A
couple of other very important items.
Just a couple of housekeeping items..... we reserve the right to reject any Domain name
transaction without any stated reason whatever. Should we choose to not handle a Domain
name, all parties to the transaction will be notified, in writing by e-mail at the address
that we have on record, well in advance of any business transaction.
Following here is a watch list of guidelines that we
use to help ensure simple, safe and precise Domain name business transactions. We
recommend it to everyone!
We always reject processing and management of Domain names:
 |
that we feel may violate trademark
statutes. |
 |
for which we can not verify valid and
accountable ownership. |
 |
where there is any question on the
identity of the Domain name Registrant. |
 |
that we feel may violate FCC rules
regarding obscenity. |
 |
that we believe will not market for more
than $1,150.00 plus our fees. |
 |
where we feel that the asking price set
is not realistic. |
 |
that we feel, in our opinion, may imply a
political statement in any way. |
 |
that we deem to possibly be a part of any
pending bankruptcy or litigation. |
 |
that are multilingual (other than
Spanish) or that contain special characters. |
 |
that are not registered with ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned
Names and Numbers) certified authoritative Registries which are administered under
contract with the United States Department of Commerce. |
We also almost always reject Domain names that have an extension
other than dot com (.com) or dot edu (.edu.) There are some value exceptions. Search
engine effectiveness and sight recognition are most often the reasons for exception.
One further item, just for the record.
CubaDomainsForSale.com strives to perfectly obey the spirit and letter of all laws of the
United States of America, and every rule and regulation regarding Cuba as delineated by
the United States Treasury Department Office of Foreign Assets Control.
