Following here CubaDomainsForSale.com will outline, for you, the
Domain suffixes (extensions) and their design meanings; the common Domain designations
used in the United States and Domain name suffixes for all countries around the world.
In the United States, there are seven three-letter top-level
Domains. These are: .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU, .GOV, .INT, .MIL and .US. The first three of
these (.com, commercial; .net, networks and .org, non-profit organizations) are operated
and chosen, most often, on commercial principles. These Domains can be registered and used
by anyone for any purpose, that is, the web sites need not always match the use definition
of the suffixes chosen. The last four have restrictive conditions as to who or what can
register names in those Domains. Those restricted Domains are:
|
.EDU - four-year degree
granting institutions in North America.
.GOV - the United States
Federal Government.
.INT - organizations established by international treaty.
.MIL - the United States military.
.US - schools, school districts and libraries; used with a name with
location. |
|
In addition, to these seven allocated to the United States, there are
two-letter top-level Domains assigned to and set aside for each country, and one special
Domain, .ARPA, which currently contains, in the main, internet infrastructure databases.
There is also .DARPA for international defense/education related Domains.

These two-letter country code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs) are based on the ISO 3166 -1 two-letter country codes. The ccTLD database maintained by
Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA),
which we list for your use below, contains information about all the ccTLDs that have been
set aside and assigned. This is not the only list, however we consider it to be the most
authoritative and widely used.
